River flow at 944cfs and coming slowly. River still in good shape after the rain. Reports from yesterday were decent during the day on dry flies and off the hook excellent in the later afternoon/evening shift.
Alders and Light Cahills were the ticket!
Think Alders! Blind casting most effective on the Housatonic when the Alder/Zebra Caddis is active! Water along river banks underneath vegetation is prime!
Come get some Stimulators, Elk Hair Caddis and Goddards!
Bass bite has been consistent this season.
Nymphing stones, mayfly, caddis larve, small PT and princes will be effective. Nymphing has been lights out!!!!
It's been a tricky season to say the least with RAIN being the major factor. Most rivers in the northeast experienced high water and blow outs this season. The Housatonic River was no exception. However, in between those periods when the river was in good shape, the fishing has been excellent! Big trout and bass have been consistent with many anglers doing well on all methods. Look for the trout bite to continue as we stay in cooler temps so far this June. SMB can be sought after all summer long!
