Store open 5 days/week, closed Monday, Tuesday. By end of month, we will go to open 7 days/week. Store is continuing to be loaded with fresh inventory. I would say this is the biggest selection and inventory count we have had at this location as we enter season 4. Tons of new everything on the shelves, racks and bins.
Was on the water early this week for steamers and streamers only, bluebird day hurt us a bit but it had to be done. Water temp was 50 degrees. Here we go! Saw some early stones and caddis here and there. Green Caddis should explode next week as we have a big warm up in weather. The cold weather especially at night seems to have slowed the turkey activity up for the moment, expect big improvement next week as well.
River at 1380cfs. Yum Yum time to hit this river!!! The river will start dropping faster as the bank trees start sucking up massive amounts of water to help with leaf growth and no rain in forecast for a bit. If conditions are cooperative this season, I expect another outstanding year. Last year was phenomenal for trout and bass. Holdover rate should have been excellent. Expect to see several 20"+ trout coming out of the river this year and I predict 2 footers lurking! Big fish are there! Our first solid dependable hatch is Green Caddis, as the weather warms and we get closer to mother's day, be on the look out for whats typically a very exciting time on the Housy. For now, expect Early Stones, BWO and though Hendricksons have been basically absent from the Housy for many years, maybe there's a comeback of some sort this year, lets hope! In the meantime, expect streamers to produce and nymphing will be productive with a wide array of patterns and sizes. Start with one big, one small and adjust from there. Lakes and ponds are getting attention and the Crappie bite will be good! Loaded with Night Crawlers, Garlic Night Crawlers and Trout worms. Have a few shiners left in the tank. Spring Turkey season is open, I'm planning to get out there and find a gobbler! Looking forward to the reports on the hunting and fishing front. That's it, no more excuses, its time to cast and blast!
